WinBoard 4.5.2 for JAWSAccessible Chess for the sight impaired |
![]() |
This package contains a version of WinBoard that has been patched to improve its accessibility to the sight impaired. It now can work in combination with the N V D A as well as the JAWS screen reader. When it detects N V D A is running on your system, it will use that for its explicit speech output. If not, it will try to use JAWS. No other screen readers are suported yet, but if you are a programmer and can supply us with an example of a "Hello World" program that speaks its message on your favorite screen reader, we can add support for that too. Just post your requests on the WinBoard forum to contact us.
This install of WinBoard 4.5.2-JAWS bundles the set of WinBoard and support programs, such as an adapter for UCI engines, opening book, sample WinBoard and UCI engines. All pre-installed and ready to run, in order to provide an example for how things can be done. It is a simplified version of the WinBoard Gold Pack. As it is intended for the visually impaired, it does not contain any graphics in the form of bitmaps or Chess fonts.
